Notes:

1. The title was renamed the WCW United States Heavyweight Title in January of 1991 when the NWA ceased to exist. Lex Luger then vacated the title on July 14, 1991 after winning the WCW World Heavyweight title

2. Sting defeated Steve Austin in a tournament final to win the title

3. Rick Rude vacated the title in December of 1992 because of an injury

4. Dustin Rhodes defeated Ricky Steamboat in a tournament final to win the title. The title was held-up after a match against Rick Rude in May of 1993

5. Dustin Rhodes defeated Rick Rude in a rematch. WCW withdrew from the NWA in September of 1993

6. Steve Austin was awarded the title when Ricky Steamboat was injured and unable to compete in the title match

7. Vader was stripped of the title on April 23, 1995 by WCW commissioner, Nick Bockwinkle

8. Sting defeated Meng in a tournament final to win the title

9. The title was awarded to One Man Gang when Sasaki vacated the title after defending it against One Man Gang

10. The title was vacated in November of 1996 when Flair was injured

11. Eddie Guerrero defeated Diamond Dallas Page in a tournament final to win the title

12. Bill Goldberg vacated the title after winning the WCW World Heavyweight Title on July 6, 1998 in Atlanta, Georgia

13. Bret Hart defeated Diamond Dallas Page to win the title

14. Scott Hall was stripped of the title by WCW President, Ric Flair, on March 18, 1999 due to an injury

15. Scott Steiner defeated Booker T in a tournament final to win the title. Scott Steiner was stripped of the title on July 5, 1999

16. The title was awarded to David Flair by WCW President, Ric Flair

17. The title was vacated on November 1, 1999

18. Scott Hall defeated Bret Hart, Bill Goldberg, and Sid Vicious in a Texas Tornado Ladder Match

19. The title was awarded to Chris Benoit when Scott Hall was injured

20. Jeff Jarrett was stripped of the title due to injury on January 15, 2000

21. Jeff Jarrett was awarded the title

22. Vince Russo vacated the title on April 10, 2000 in Denver, Colorado. Scott Steiner defeated Sting in a tournament final. Was stripped by the Cat on July 9, 2000 in Daytona Beach, Florida

23. Lance Storm defeated Mike Awesome in a tournament final
